The oil is located in the cartridge which lubricates the shaft and thus, it requires constant change of oil every 3,000 to 4,000 Kms.   • Warm up the engine: It is ideal to warm up the engine before hitting that accelerator. The oil must reach the temperature of 190 to 220 degree Fahrenheit at which it works optimally thus, curbing wear and tears.

  • When the engine stops: A turbocharger facilitates the output of the engine by enhancing it and it is a common practice that people usually stop their engine instantly. However, it isn’t right since, the turbocharger needs to be cooled or otherwise, the excess heat can damage the components of the turbo.

To curb the issue, you must keep the engine idle before shutting it down to cool it down. The average time to keep the engines idle is between 30 seconds to 60 seconds which allows the coolant to cool down the engine and therefore, protecting the engine components from excess heat.

  • Gear Shift: While climbing a hill or passing through a speed bump, selecting lower gear can curb the excess work that a turbo is required to do.

These are few tips that you can practice preventing much damage to the turbo. Moreover, maintenance and servicing of the turbo components is equally important and must be done in every 18,000 miles to 180,000 miles.
